What We Are Looking For:
The Paralegal Advocate will be responsible for supporting the direct representation of non- detained immigrants in removal proceedings. The candidate will have experience in drafting motions and briefs for submission to Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). The candidate will be familiar with immigration legal research and with remedies in immigration court. This position will begin as a supportive role, with progressive responsibility, and possible opportunities for becoming an accredited representative to represent clients under supervision.

What We Offer:
This position is currently a part-time position with a salary of $20,000 a year. This position has the potential of becoming a full-time position depending on funding and future need. We offer paid time off to include a week off for the end-of-year holidays and an additional week off for the summer. - Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or higher is preferred
- Ability to work sensitively with colleagues and clients from diverse cultures
- Legal assistant or paralegal experience in Immigration Law
- Ability to maintain client required confidentiality and communicate with professionalism and courtesy
- Experience with EOIR court cases, strongly preferred
- Strong case management, legal research, and writing skills
- Emotional intelligence
- Defensive Asylum experience a plus
- Solution driven
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strives in the areas of teamwork, leadership, and kindness
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge and comfort levels with Zoom and online platforms
- Strong knowledge with Microsoft
- Commitment to immigrants’ rights and the mission of AZJFON software
