Arizona Justice For Our Neighbors info@azjfon.org NEW LEADERSHIP FOR ARIZONA JUSTICE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS AND NATIONAL JUSTICE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS Executive Director Roxana Aguilar Matiella brings relentless commitment to help lead in the change for humanitarian care for the most vulnerable individuals and communities. Tucson, Arizona: Arizona Justice For Our Neighbors (AZJFON) would like to announce the appointment of Roxana Aguilar Matiella will be joining as Director, effective July 2022. Roxana will be joining AZJFON from W. Haywood Burns Institute, where she served as Director of Site Management among other important roles for more than five years, making them an authority in the non-profit organization management industry. Recognized as a system change champion dedicated to strategic dismantling of structural racism and bringing belonging and well-being outcomes. To help us achieve the goal of anti-racist work within the immigration legal system in Arizona, Roxana will be bringing the following experience in dismantling structural racism and building community-centered advocacy to AZJFON:
"We must be diligent in remembering our history and how we stand on stolen land when creating and dismantling policies around immigrants who build America.,” says Roxana Aguilar Matiella, whose passion for immigration efforts derive from her personal story of proudly coming from immigrant parents and having experienced the injustices with America's immigration system. About Arizona Justice For Our Neighbors: Formed by members of the Immigration Task Force in 2016 and began with one immigration attorney, Ella Rawls in 2017. Since then, AZJFON has served hundreds of cases, providing low-cost asylum and immigration legal services to people who seek safety at our southern Arizona border. Alba Jaramillo formerly served as legal counsel and Executive Director at AZJFON, now Co-Director for National Justice For Our Neighbors.
